The hype machine is running on all cylinders across the globe in preparation for the release of X-Men: First Class. The latest PR salvo comes in the form of these character profile posters, not unlike those we’ve seen for Green Lantern – spotlighting key players from the film, looking determined, sexy, nasty and/or furry, as warranted.
We’ve said it once, we’ll say it again: Everything is better in LEGO form.
So not to discount every other summer movie preview out there this week (including our own countdown of the season’s 25 most anticipated blockbusters), but we think you’ll agree that the preview you’ll find below is absolutely the most… LEGO-ist.
Really, it doesn’t get any better than a LEGO monkey. (Posters created for NextMovie by Old Red Jalopy.)
Graphic designer Joe Stone has completed his trilogy of Marvel Comics infographics with the Avengers Family Tree. As he has already done with the X-Men and and the Fantastic Four, Stone traces the familial, sexual and clonal relationship of one comics’ most beloved super-teams. Beyond their excellent designs, Stone’s infographics have also inspired great debates about the years of subplots, alternate realities and retroactive continuities that make the existence of these family trees all the more impressive.

After last nights’s X-Men: First Class abominations were released (I refuse to call those posters) we were all left with a really sour, back-alley taste in our mouths. I mean, we’ve seen some bad terrible posters in our day, but those may just be the worst.
So for this morning’s A.M. Awesome I thought I’d bring to light a poster made by artist Eric Tan that he created back in 2007. Posted on Twitter today by Last Exit To Nowhere, this poster has nothing to do with the upcoming film, but is a stellar poster showing off the era of X-Men we should expect out of First Class.
As he says, it’s inspiration was taken from old school German cinema posters and the effect is shockingly awesome. Don’t get your hopes up for Sentinels in First Class though. Again, this isn’t something that will be used as marketing material for the film, it’s simply something I thought you all might be able to brush your teeth with this morning. Happy Wednesday!
Because I’m sure that there are people in the world that have no idea what’s going on with the X-Men franchise, part of Fox’s marketing department’s job is going to be convincing people that X-Men: First Class is a prequel rather than a reboot. This process has already started with the film’s first trailer opening with the lines “Before he was Professor X” and “Before he was Magneto” , but now it appears that it’s extending to the posters.
The Flickr account for French website Filmosphere has revealed what may be the first two character one-sheets from Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming superhero film. The posters have the exact same taglines as the trailer did and have a pretty cool reflection effect going on, but it’s unknown how real these are. They could very well just be fan Photoshop jobs, but they could also be foreign advertisements.
