Course Description:
This course covers specific printing processes such as halftone and screens (1 color), color separation & basic layout, imposition and bindery. Studio business practices such as pricing estimating and time tracking are introduced. Introduction to page layout software (InDesign), Illustration software (Illustrator), and photo manipulation software basics as to scanning (Photoshop ).
This class will also include a workshop class for 12 hours of Student Success Strategies Times to be determined, and this class is mandatory and attendance and exercises count against final grade in this class.
Instruction Method:
Lectures, demonstrations, projects and critiques, 1 Exam.
Course Objectives:
At the completion of the course, the student will be familiar with:
• Understand the basics of the Printing process
• Elementary knowledge of page layout
• Elementary knowledge of vector illustration
• Elementary knowledge of raster manipulation
• Introduction of the direct to plate-press workflow
